One of the best parts of a photo booth has to be the prints. I mean, that’s what we’re here for, right?! Guests love that they will have a personalized keepsake from your biggest day that they get to take home with them, and you and your soon-to-be-Mr.-or Mrs. will have a one-of-a-kind photo print template that is uniquely yours.
The question is, how do you go about making a unique photo booth print template? Luckily, we live in the age of the internet where a plethora of creative (a free!) tools exist to help even the most non-creative types design the perfect template for your big day. Here are a few of our favorite ways to easily design awesome print templates for your photo booth.
Create a custom design using Canva
Canva.com is a great resource for everything creative. Their drag and drop layouts make it super easy to design anything from Instagram posts to custom menus (anyone doing menus for your wedding dinner??). It’s also a great tool to create a custom photo booth template.
Simply select “Create a Design” from the main menu, then select “Use Custom Dimensions”. You’ll want to set the dimensions of your design to 4” x 6”. From there you can customize the background and text using any of their premade options and fonts. You can even add in logos and designs- just be sure to leave space for the photos to fit on the template!
Once your design in Canva is complete, select the “Download” button and save your masterpiece as a .jpg file. Send that over to your photo booth provider and they should be able to load that into your booth with no problems at all!
Create a clean, minimal, print template using your monogram
Sometimes a simple template says the most. Minimalistic templates are some of our favorites, especially in the 4”x 6” format. If you already have a monogram for your wedding, you’re already pretty much there. Most photo booth companies will allow you to add your emblem to the template, you’ll just need a .png or vector file you can send over to them.
If you need to have a monogram made, a couple great options are Fiverr or Zilliondesigns. Zilliondesigns is a free tool and through Fiverr you can get a unique design at a very affordable cost. If you do use either of those options, just be sure you acquire the png file so you can add it to your template.
Use your Photoshop skills to create a professional template
Warning! Some basic photoshop skills are required (and you have to own photoshop!) in order to go this route. However, if you have the patience, these templates will come out looking amazing!
Sites like photoboothtemplates.com have a wide variety of awesome photobooth templates you can download for relatively cheap. Once you find one you like, they will send you a photoshop file of the print template. Open that puppy up in photoshop and you’ll be able to customize the lettering to your event and make any adjustments you like. Again, save that as a jpg file and send it over to your photo booth company. They can take it from there!
So, those are just a few ways to create a spectacular wedding photo booth print template! No print template is complete without a sweet backdrop for the photos. Check out our post on DIY backdrop ideas if you need some inspiration.
And of course, if you have an event coming up and need a photo booth that already has tons of great print template options, drop us a line, we’d love to hear from you!

Here at indybooth, we consider ourselves photo booth props aficionados (there are literally DOZENS of us out there!). We feel that having a strong prop game is the true differentiator between a mediocre photo booth photo and the pic of a lifetime. Whether you have reserved an indybooth photo booth for your event or not, be sure to follow these prop suggestions to ensure that your photo booth photos stand out from the pack.
We are huge fans of vintage props over here. There’s no better way to personalize your photos than to have a one-of-a-kind prop you found at a local thrift store included in the mix. Plus, scouring your local vintage store is a great bonding activity in itself! Here are a few of our favorite vintage props to keep an eye out for:
- Vintage phones: Not only do they look cool, but they can be used to create hilarious couple photos
- Old books: Believe it or not, an old hardcover book will make for an awesome prop! Combine it with some glasses on a stick for that extra scholarly look.
- Picture Frames: Vintage frames are always a winner. Something about a picture within a picture is just captivating.
- Deer antlers: Maybe it’s just us, but we love deer antlers. Plus, you don’t have to forage in the woods to find them! Give your photos a dash of cabin-chic by leaving a pair out for guests. Plus, the pictures are always hilarious.
At this point, a photo booth has pretty much become a must have at weddings. That being said, you’ll want to have some wedding specific props so the photos fit the theme. Aside for your classic props on a stick, here are some suggestions for props that tie into the big day!
- Wedding hats: Hats. So hot right now. Hats. But wedding specific hats? Go with a white cap with a veil for ladies and find yourself an old top hat for the gents. Done.
- Giant Champagne Bottle: These are so fun and make for a great picture. If you don’t want to buy an actual bottle, you can find some pretty sweet blow-up champagne bottles online.
- Baby pictures: This one is a little out-there and only for the veteran photo-boother. Create a blown-up headshot of the bride and grooms baby pictures and put it on a stick. Trust us, it’s hilarious.
- Sunglasses: Gather up all your best stunner shades and lay them out for wedding guests to get silly with. Our favorite use of sunglasses in the photo booth is when the entire bridal party gets in on the sunglass action. Plus, you’ll look super cool.
A great way to add an extra layer of fun to your photo booth prints are some custom signs. Because they are so customizable, you can come up with tons of words and phrases that are relevant to your event.
- Chalkboard signs: Find black chalkboard signs, either normal squares or word bubbles, and go crazy with it.
- Emoji signs: Print of large emoji’s and glue them to cardstock, then glue that to a stick. Voila’
- Instagram post cutout: This is one of our favorites. You can buy a custom Instagram post frame for relatively cheap. Then just customize the words.
The most important thing with your props is to have fun with it! Good props really make a picture that much better. Whether you have a wedding photo booth, corporate event, or are just setting up a photo booth for your party, you want to make sure you’re getting the most out of your pictures.
We hope our guide to props helped give you some inspiration for your next event. And if you’re in Southern California and looking for a photo booth with all the best props, drop us a line and we’ll come up with some even better ideas together!

Ever take a picture that looks just perfect — you’re flashing your best smile, your clothes look amazing, and your hair is on point — but then look at it again and realize you’ve been photobombed by a dumpster in the background? Or your distant aunt with the traffic-cone-orange hat? Or a hapless groomsman chomping down on a shrimp puff. There’s a lot to be said for including a dedicated picture-taking space at your wedding or other major event. A photo booth with a customized backdrop is the perfect opportunity for guests to capture terrific memories of your gathering, and to share those memories with family and friends.
What should you do with the blank canvas of your photo booth backdrop? The possibilities are endless. You can go fancy or simple, fun or formal, elegant and modern or retro and totally kitschy. Whatever the theme of your event, you can make a photo booth backdrop to match.
Create a flower wall (real or paper, the choice is yours!)
A floral wall can be an absolutely stunning background. You can find artificial flowers that match the season and colors of your wedding to help seamlessly tie the photo booth into the rest of your space. Which is the better route to go? Here are the pro’s and con’s of each:
Real Flower Wall
- Looks amazing!
- Keep the flowers once the event is complete and repurpose them
- A real flower wall is going to be expensive
- Setup is time-consuming
Paper Flower Wall
- Tons of color options to choose from. Maybe try a pink ombre or a color collage!
- Easy set up once the flowers have been made
- Less expensive than a living flower wall
- Most likely a one time use
- Paper can tear during the event
Whichever style flower wall you choose, rest assured your photo booth backdrop is going to look incredible.
Streamers and ribbons add glimmer and shine
Streamers or ribbons can be transformed into a dynamic photo booth backdrop. Simply choose your favorite color (or choose a few — try layering gold and silver streamers for a glitzy red carpet vibe), attach them to a rope or curtain rod, and set it up in the photo booth area. Your backdrop will look just like one of the sparkly sequins you see here!
Here is a list of everything you’ll need to create your very own DIY sparkle backdrop
Get rustic with wood pallets
For a more rustic feel, consider a wood pallet wall (Like the example above from Makespace.com). These pallets make for a versatile photo booth backdrop. You can customize a pallet wall by staining or painting the wood, or by adding other decorative elements. For a photo booth at a wedding, add wooden or chipboard letters for the bride and groom’s initials or for the date of the wedding.
Chalkboard walls, so hot right now
Chalkboard walls are one of the most popular new trends in photo booth backdrops. All you need to do is buy a can of chalkboard paint and use it to convert nearly any flat surface into a chalkboard. You can write out a message yourself, or you can leave erasers and chalk in the photo booth area so that snapshot-takers can create their own custom background. If your penmanship skills are less than par, or you need to brush up on your calligraphy skills (get it…”brush” up), then you can always get a custom chalkboard backdrop created at online stores like Backdrop Outlet
Use the space for your backdrop!
If you’re hosting an event in a large venue, you may find that there are some ready-made backdrops available for your use. Look for trellises, hedges, murals, or other aesthetically pleasing areas.
Once you’ve picked a spot, cordon it off with velvet rope, strategically placed flower pots, or simply a fun hand-lettered sign that says “PHOTO BOOTH” so everyone knows that this is the place to be.
A DIY photo booth backdrop will guarantee that your wedding or other big event has the perfect photo op. With a little creativity, you can create a photo booth space that’s sure to provide a myriad of fond memories (and plenty of Instagram material) for your guests.

We’ve all been there – you and your friends decide to cram into the enclosed photo booth because you know you have to have a keepsake from the event. But, now you and your friends are feeling trapped in a photo booth that is so tight you actually forget for a moment that you aren’t on a subway in Hong Kong. It’s hot, cramped, and somebody just elbowed you in the ribs. Like three times. Still, when knowing there is no other alternative, we must prepare, smile and get a decent photo.
Thanks to the new generation of the “open-air”, kiosk style photobooth, you’ll be able to stretch your legs and breath in the fresh air while snapping your timeless pic.
A new San Diego photo booth that gives you the photo booth photos, without the cramped experience.
The open air photo booth, like indybooth here in San Diego, is a great alternative to the enclosed booth from the days of carnivals and mini malls. Here’s how it works…
The camera is set up on a kiosk style camera stand, complete with a touch screen panel on the front and professional grade lighting on the back. The touchscreen is the perfect way to see yourself and do one last check-up before the lights flash. Once your masterpiece is captured, you’ll be able to share the photo to social media directly from the touchscreen panel. But the best part of all…
The picture is completely customizable. From the backdrop to the print template itself, you have control over everything the photo takers see. Prior to setting up your wedding photo booth, or if you’re using the booth at a corporate party, you’ll have all the options laid out to make your selections. Go with a gold backdrop and the photo strip layout for a classic photo booth look, or, choose a 4×6 print with marble backdrops for something more contemporary. The choice is yours when you’re in the open air.
Group photo booth photos just got a whole new dimension.
With enclosed photo booths, there’s always the elephant in the room. The max capacity in those things is about 4 people. That means one of your friends isn’t going to make the cut, and that’s no fun at all. With our open air photo booth, you could literally take a picture of the elephant in the room. That’s how much space you have to work with (okay maybe a baby elephant, but that’s way cuter anyway and you get the point).
We’ve seen up to 15 people in one photo. Seriously. Once all the chaos of getting everyone into the picture is captured in the frame, you’ll have a photo that makes you chuckle and remember just how crazy your event was. Not to mention, photo bombing opportunities are endless. But most importantly, you’ll remember how much fun you had. And so will everyone else.
The photo booth itself is an aesthetically pleasing piece of the setting
You’ve just spent months planning out your event, down to every last detail. The look and feel are everything. The last thing you want is some clunky monstrosity in the corner throwing off your groove. The open air photo booth is essentially camera + backdrop. And they look good all by themselves. Their sleek and modern design will have the whole setup blending in perfectly with your venue. Not to mention, if you are host a corporate event, the photo booth itself can be wrapped with your company logo for that extra little touch of corporate branding on the event.
If you’re ready to free yourself from the enclosure and get creative with a fully customizable open air booth, go ahead and drop us a line. We love San Diego weddings, corporate events, soirees, fundraisers, etc. 🙂

In the age of selfies, tweets, #tbt’s and all other social media standards, throwing a corporate event that actually entertains your employees is becoming an increasingly difficult achievement. It’s hard! But we’re here to help. One foolproof tactic to ensure your party doesn’t end up on the wrong side of an employee snapchat is to hire a photo booth for your event. A good photo booth will add an exciting, fun, and memorable experience for any employee. And with the social media and email access that comes standard with any modern photo booth, you can rest assured that all of your employees will get their instant gratification fix through social sharing. Your party will be a hit! What other ways does bringing a photo booth to your corporate event add serious value? Let’s lay them out…
Hundreds of marketing images for your corporate site
Every company wants quality, marketing friendly images of their employees to add to their corporate website and social media networks. You want people to know you’re a real company with real, happy employees after all! Some companies will even pay to have a photographer pop by the office and take some snapshots of employees at work, which might lead to some unintentional, awkward candids. These are fine and all, but if you really want to convey to a potential applicant that your company is the place to be, nothing is going to wow them more than a slew of trendy photo booth photos from the company party where the employees are revealing some genuine smiles! Now, add some fun props into the mix and you’ve got some vibrant employee photos that you can incorporate into your marketing sites for years. You’ll be attracting top talent because they know you are a company full of happy employees, and you know how to rock a party!
Fully branded experience
Some modern photo booths (like indybooth for example!) can custom brand the entire photo booth experience for your company. From the print template to a custom wrapper on the photo booth itself, you can ensure that anybody who stops by your booth will be exposed to your brand instantly. If there will be potential clients or customers at your event, they will be taking home a print with your logo on it as an everlasting reminder that they had a blast at your event. I have a photo booth print on my desk with Puesto: Mexican Street Food’s logo on it, and I can’t help but consider tacos for lunch every single day now. It’s so much more personal than an online ad because there’s a picture of me right on the front!
Lasting Memories for your employees
So you threw the best company party ever and your employees loved it! Well done! But if you don’t have the pictures to prove it, your perfect party will live in legends alone. With a photo booth, you are guaranteeing that your employees will have a lasting memory of the event. What better way to brighten up your cubicle than that hilarious photo booth photo of you and your manager wearing those ridiculous mustaches? Employees will be lining up to see what crazy prop the CEO is going to use is his pic. Now there’s a good photo for Glassdoor!
With indybooth, you get a San Diego photo booth provider specializing in making your corporate event a fun, exciting, and memorable experience where each personalized photo is a shining example of your company’s dedication to its employees. Our professional staff will make your corporate gathering picture perfect and virally fun! Contact us today and let’s get these cameras rolling!

Photo booths are more popular now than ever. People are booking booths for any type of event. Weddings, corporate parties, family reunions, birthday parties, you name it! When going with a photo booth rental for your party, the kiosk or “open air” style is all the rage. With the kiosk photo booth, you have the option of a custom backdrop and much more space to fit large groups into the picture. Who doesn’t love that? Of course, you want to make sure you are booking the best possible booth for your event with all the bells and whistles that today’s technology has to offer. So, we put together a list of the top three things you should look for to make make sure you’re getting the most out of your photo booth rental.
Does your photo booth have Social Media access?
3..2..1..Pose! You and your friends have just taken the perfect pic complete with silly poses and spectacular props…now what? Of course, you’ll want to share your masterpiece with all your friends and family right away. Well, if your photo booth comes complete with social media sharing then your wish shall be granted. Simply log into your Facebook or Instagram account directly from the booth and post your creation for the world to see. This option is a must have for any modern photo booth.
Does your photo booth offer customized print templates?
Nothing gives your pics that extra something special like a custom template made specifically for your event. Whether it’s a company logo for your corporate party or beautiful handwritten names of the bride and groom for their wedding, the custom print template will make your pictures even more memorable. Find a photo booth rental company that will use your own logo or even create one for you. It makes all the difference!
Are there video GIF options for your session?
Pics and prints are great, however, sometimes your guests are going to want something a little different. GIF and video options offer just that! Your guests will be able to get even more creative during their session and these options capture the moment in the best way. Now, since we can’t print a video out onto a picture (unless you live in the world of Harry Potter), then the social media access becomes more important to your guests.
There you have it! If your photo booth rental hits all three of these must-have options, then your booth will be a sure-fire hit at your event. At indybooth, we offer the best photo booth on the market, so we have you covered on all the photo booth essentials. We want your next event be a smash, and with an indybooth at the center of the action, rest assured you won’t miss a single moment.

San Diego photo booth rentals for your next event
Thanks for stopping by our brand new blog! We are a photo booth rental company based in sunny San Diego, CA. Here we’ll be posting about photo booth life, wedding planning, parties, our favorite pictures from past events, and a bunch of other cool stuff that we think is awesome. Because we think you’re awesome and we want to share it with you.
Who is indybooth?
Like many of us in our mid-twenties, we were looking for a way to escape our 9-5 jobs and rid ourselves of the horror that is peak-traffic-hours on the 805. Living in North Park, we are constantly exposed to some of the trendiest stores, restaurants, and bars San Diego has to offer. That contemporary style was the spirit we wanted to capture in their next venture, no matter what that may be. After tossing around hundreds of ideas, mostly junk, our true calling hit us- and it was at our own engagement party.
For the party, we created a DIY photo booth using their DSLR camera, floodlights, a PVC backdrop frame, and some wrapping paper. Surprisingly, the jerry-rigged photo booth set-up was a huge hit! After seeing the enjoyment our guests got out of the homemade booth, we decided that our new mission in life was to offer a top of the line photo booth to everyone we can in San Diego.
If you haven’t already, like us on facebook to stay up to date on all of our posts. And of course, if you want to get in touch with us for any reason at all, feel free to shoot us an email. We feel that a photo booth is an essential part of any party, so let us know about yous 🙂
Stay tuned for more!
